It was great seeing so many parents and families at our Open House event last week!  Great job to our jazz band on your performance and thank you to everybody who came out before the Open House to support us!

Getting back into the groove with a more normal schedule this week.  Don't forget to check the weekly schedule at the bottom of the email!

Here is what is going on this week:

Spring Concert Date Change- New date TUESDAY MARCH 10th!

As a general note, please remember that excused absences from any performance in our band and colorguard program require a two week written notice.

Lunch/ Dinner-  We will be having a late lunch/ early dinner at 4PM at Souplantation.  This is included in the money students are turning in this week.

San Diego Trip 2019- Advanced Band Receives Gold Rating!

Picture
Great job to all of our advanced band students who traveled with us to San Diego for a weekend of performance and fun!!  The group earned a Gold Rating (highest rating possible) for their performance at the Chula Vista Performing Arts High School Forum Festival.  We would also like to congratulate our tuba section on receiving an outstanding section award!  In addition to the performance, the group traveled via charter bus to excursions throughout San Diego including Sea World, Old Town San Diego and more!  Thank you to our students for continuing to represent our school and band program in a fantastic way!

Disneyland Performance

Picture
Unfortunately this year our performance got rained out, but we still had a fantastic time hanging out with friends, getting drenched at Disneyland and checking out the backstage area! Hopefully next year we will stay a little dryer!!

Pictures and Videos-  Did you get a picture or video of the group from the performance?? If so, PLEASE send me a copy so that we can start collecting it all for our end of the year "yearbook."  There are also many of you who have photos from other performances.  Please get those to Mr. Gullett as soon as possible so we can get working on it ahead of time.

If you would like to check out my copy of our "official" Disneyland photo to copy or scan for yourself, you may do so.  Please send your student to me and I will put them on the list.  What I do ask is that anybody who borrows my picture return it the next school day so that everybody who needs to borrow it has a chance.  Thanks

Sign Up for Remind!

Our Tetzlaff Band and Colorguard Remind App is Here!! The remind app is a way for myself and Mrs. De La Cruz to send text message reminders to everybody that come from a "one way, no- reply" phone number through the app.  This protects all phone numbers of families and students who sign up for the app (nobody besides the remind app receives your phone number, including myself).

We will be using this tool primarily for updates during performances, last minute changes/ reminders for events, and reminders on when donations/ forms/ etc can be turned in.  We do not plan on using it to remind students and parents of our regular schedule practices or things that are part of the daily routine.

To join the advanced band and colorguard list, simply follow text "@2f950" to phone number "81010"!  You should receive a text message back confirming you are signed up.  You do not need to download an app or go online to sign up.  It does not cost any money to join, however standard text messaging rates do apply if you do not have unlimited text messages on your phone plan.

If you need help signing up, see the flyer attached or contact Mr. Gullett!

2014 Music Man Performance

Picture
WOW what a week!!  I could not be more proud of the accomplishments and hard work of our students and the results of the weekend.  We received so many positive compliments there was no way to keep count!  Everybody from Musical Theatre West was extremely complimentary of our program and impressed by their performance.
This hard work paid off in a performing experience that our students will remember for the rest of their life and I am so happy to have been able to be a part of the experience!

I want to thank our phenomenal parents for all their help throughout the week, especially those able to made the trip to Carpenter Center with us!  A special thank you to our parent coordinator Kris Gasporro for all the help planning for the week as well.  Last I want to make sure to thank our students for all the hard work they put in to make this happen-  not just this week, but all year to get to a point where we could perform this on such short notice.  YOU ROCK TROJAN BAND AND COLORGUARD!!

~Mr. Gullett
