Performing Arts Weekly Update 10/31- 11/6

Picture

Great job to our band and colorguard teams on a fantastic performance at the Loara Band Review! I am so proud of all the work we put in this year, and you all did such an amazing job getting back on the street!

A special thanks to our parent volunteers who made the day possible, especially our parent coordinator Raquel Nagao for keeping the ship sailing during our events!! You all rock!!

This week we have a lot less going on and can all recover a little bit from our busy Saturday. Here's what is going on:

Uniform Return

We will be returning band and colorguard uniforms to school on Monday morning!! Students should arrive to school a couple minutes early with uniforms properly hung on hangers and hang their uniforms on the correct rack based on their first name. We will also have shako racks out and band students should place their shakos in the numbered bin associated with their shako.

If you are planning to get your uniform dry cleaned before returning it, please take it in no later than Monday so that it will be ready to return on Friday.  I will pull the racks out again on Friday morning to allow students to return them who chose this option.

Loara Band Review Photo Request!

Did you take photos at the Loara Band Review?? Please send them my way so we can build our collection for our end of the year banquet and our yearbook! Thank you in advance!!

Jazz Band First Meeting- Thursday, 11/4

I am excited to announce we are starting our after school jazz band ensemble beginning on this Thursday, 11/4 from 2:20- 3:45PM after school!  Jazz band is an OPTIONAL group available to advanced band students interested in learning new styles of music including swing, funk, rock, and latin!

All instruments are welcome including "non-jazz" instruments, and students will have the ability to learn a new "jazz" instrument if they prefer. We will also be looking for students who play and read guitar, bass, piano, and drum set to fill out our rhythm section! Percussion students who do not play drum set will be able to learn during jazz band.

If you are interested in joining, just attend our first meeting on Thursday!

Sign Up for Remind!

Our Tetzlaff Band and Colorguard Remind App is Here!! The remind app is a way for myself and Mrs. De La Cruz to send text message reminders to everybody that come from a "one way, no- reply" phone number through the app.  This protects all phone numbers of families and students who sign up for the app (nobody besides the remind app receives your phone number, including myself).

We will be using this tool primarily for updates during performances, last minute changes/ reminders for events, and reminders on when donations/ forms/ etc can be turned in.  We do not plan on using it to remind students and parents of our regular schedule practices or things that are part of the daily routine.

To join the advanced band and colorguard list, simply follow text "@49aakf" to phone number "81010"!  You should receive a text message back confirming you are signed up.  You do not need to download an app or go online to sign up.  It does not cost any money to join, however standard text messaging rates do apply if you do not have unlimited text messages on your phone plan.

If you need help signing up, see the flyer attached or contact Mr. Gullett!
